Listen, in 1981 Signet published a book by Lynne Cheney called "Sisters!" Yes, that's the same Lynne Cheney who now lives in the White House with her husband vice-president Dick Cheney (unless vice-presidents don't live in the White House. Frankly, I've never cared enough to check.) Sisters was a historical romance, the kind they sell a few hundred copies of, which includes a lesbian scene. If I'm not mistaken it's about a lesbian affair in the 19th century. It at least goes into details about one. I don't think any of my lesbian friends (ironically one of which is my own "Sister!") will be offended if I point out that this is most likely a very crappy and poorly written book. But it's in high demand because a) there was no second printing and most likely never will beb) the Cheneys have a lesbian daughterc) the Cheneys are in an administration that is currently hatching an evil plan for a consititutional ban on gay marriage d) this book proves that Lynne Cheney herself for at least one point in her life gave enough serious thought about lesbian sex to write scenes of it in her book.Today I found a copy of it. RPM Books is selling it on Alibris.http://www.alibris.com/search/search.cfm?qwork=6110666&wauth=Cheney&wtit=Sisters&matches=3&qsort=rTo be honest I really wish it didn't sell for so much because I'd love to be able to spread the word around and help tarnish their names more than they do on their own. Which is part of why I'm writing this. Anyway it was a happy day for me. All my progressive minded readers should be equally enthusiastic over this find.
