Here's another article I have two almost opposing reactions to. On one hand, I wish Anne Rice would have offered to give refunds for her dissatisfied readers about ten years ago when I was still reading her.
But on the other hand, I'm totally on her side on this one about Amazon's customer reviews being "a public urinal to publish falsehood and lies." No accountability and a bunch of miserable geeks going around writing horrible, miguided, unresearched, and often unintelligable reviews which in effect bring down the author's sales.
I do everything I can to avoid reading Amazon reviews. If I had a new book out there and some pinhead wrote about how my book "sucked" or was a "ripoff" of some thing I've never heard of I'd be pretty pissed off too. I'd try and find out who they are and try to get them fired. But then I'm petty like that.
